Anything Goes for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts I decided to alter a frame for my "Anything Goes" theme project, of course using lots of La-La Land Crafts Dies!

While I've been here in the States visiting family, I have been scoping out fun things to alter at yard sales and thrift stores. I bought this frame for a steal and decided to make a gift for my mom using my favorite photo of my girls! I find it so hard to get photos of Aisling especially but of the two of them together as well, that I am so excited when I get a great unposed photo.

In the close up above you can see the Heart Key and Lock and Filigree Corner I added to the metal frame.  I added a little inspirational saying as well.

My flower cluster has one Prima flower from my stash as well as the Rolled Rose Large, Rolled Rolled Rose Medium and Open Leaf Flourish. I just love how this really dresses up this frame and makes it extra special for my mother to display in her living room!

All the above project uses the gorgeous C'est Magnfique August Kit, using items from the main kit, Flower Add On, and Embellishment Add On. I love how I could use the kit to make so many projects!

A Blog Hop with a Difference

Hello!!!

I received messages from two amazing talented friends, Lisa Gregory and Rikki Graziani a couple of weeks ago asking if I'd like to participate in a blog hop with a difference.  It's a little different to the usual, scrapping blog hops as it's not run by anyone, instead it's a blog hop to share a little more about yourself, introduce your readers/followers to some lovely scrappers that they may not already know and having fun.

I first met Lisa via Facebook when I was inspired by her work and I am pretty sure I messaged her to say how much I love it. I have been FB chatting with her ever since and consider her a great inspiration and mentor in the world of scrapbooking!!   Rikki Graziani was on a design team with me and I really admire her versatile style she can rock both grungy mixed media and flowery shabby chic without skipping a beat!

Here are a few questions & answers we were asked about my creative process:

1.  What am I working on right now?

I am in the United States for six weeks at the moment though we are starting our final full week here today. It has been a challenge creating for my design teams without my well stocked scrap room but it has been fun. I can't not create when I am six weeks in the same place, so I have taken over my parents spare room and turned it into a mini scraproom. We do lots of early morning activities before the heat of the day and I do my creating in the afternoons or evenings. Here is a sneak peek of something I created yesterday for a guest design gig for August.

2.  How long does it take to create a project?

It depends, sometimes they come quickly, sometimes they develop over days!! Being away from my scraproom with limited items to use, my latest creations have gone a little faster, though I still might come back to them over the space of a day or two. Here are some layouts I have been doing lately...

3.  What are my favourite things to create with at the moment?

Layouts, layouts and more layouts!! But I do love to do cards, and have fun doing altered projects and jewelry!

4.  How does my creative process work?

I work with several different design teams, so sometimes it starts with the DT product, such as dies, stamps or kit items. I love to use both vintage photos and photos of my gorgeous girls. I will often work on the photos and flower clusters to get them where I like, take a photo and then work on the mixed media background to tie in with it!  When I am creating for myself I love to use sketches and pick out fun stash that I haven't used in a while.

5.  How do I become inspired & stay inspired?

I have always loved crafting and what has inspired me was learning new things: sewing, quilting, knitting, scrapbooking and card making! Of course new products and new techniques during whatever crafting phase I have been in has been inspirational, who doesn't love new goodies!! With scrapbooking I love to take photos of my girls and make shadowbox very 3D layouts!

6.  What is my signature style?

I think my style is still developing, but it always has flowers, usually has sewing and is starting to have a reasonable amount of mixed media and color!! I think it will constantly evolve!

I've asked two friends to continue this blog hop!

Connie Hall

Connie is one of my first scrapbooking friends I made when I first started papercrafting.
She has a gorgeous classic shabby chic style!

Debbie Burns

I have worked with Debbie on a few Design Teams and just love her vintage mixed media style.
So glad to call her one of my scrappy friends!!

These ladies will share a little more about themselves,  their scrapping style & inspirations.  So make sure you give them a visit next week to catch their blog hop post, where you'll learn more about them & also see who they are passing the blog hop onto. Pop on by their blogs now and become a follower, that way you won't miss their blog hop post when it goes up next week....or any of their future posts showcasing their amazing work :)

I hope you enjoyed this insight to my scrapping world.

Summer Kind of Girl for Berry71Bleu

(Image Sources: 123456)

This month I went for a monochromatic look for my layout!  Our challenge is all about patterns and I have a lot of them going on here! I have used two different patterned papers, circles patterns in my mask, checkerboard stamps, zig zag pattern in the sewing and pennant chipboards!!

We were generously sponsored this month by Jelly Park Stamps and here you can see the Flip Flops, Four Trees ( I converted them to leaves for my flower cluster!!), and Summer Kind of Girl title. I colored these in using Kaisercraft Fusion markers. I always add to love shells to my beachy layouts and also added some netting for texture! I kept with the coral and purple colors on the background paper.

Our other sponsor for this month is Molossi Chipboard. I have used their fun pennant chipboards to get that feeling of movement. I used some Kaisercraft Fusion markers to color the pennants and then distressed them with some gesso.

New Product Showcase at La-La Land Crafts!

La-La Land Crafts have released some gorgeous new products this month!! Have a look at the gorgeous dies and stamps available HERE in the store!!!

Though I am not a stamp colorer myself, have a look at these amazing new stamp designs, perfect for the summer!!

My first layout I am featuring uses the Lattice BorderLattice Doily Border and Fancy Butterfly dies.

Here you can see the Lattice Doily Border and Fancy Butterfly close up. I just love how amazingly well the La-La Land Crafts dies cut, the waste pieces just fall out and leave behind the most detailed die cuts. I love the stitched details on the Lattice Doily Border and the delicate antennae on the Fancy Butterfly.

In the photo below you can see the detail on the Lattice Border die, again I just love the intricate pattern and stitched detail!

All the above layout uses the gorgeous C'est Magnfique August Kit, using items from the main kit, the Mixed Media kit, Flower Add On, and Embellishment Add On. The kit just fits the beautiful new die cuts perfectly!
My second layout uses the gorgeous nautical themed dies! I just loved working on this one, and my dad loves that he is featured on the internet lol!!!

Here you can see the Wheel & Anchor dies which I have used as accents in my flower cluster. I have also used the Water Lily die adding a bit of bling to the centre!

This close up shows the gorgeous Pelican die, I added lots of shells, tags, masking and inking to my photo cluster.

My final closeup lets you see the beautiful Birds die, I just love them as an accent on a nautical page! My final die I used was the Fancy Bracket die for a few accent layers at the top and the bottom of the layout.

I used the Prima July BAP for my layout here and would love to enter it in their sketch challenge!

On The Road Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is called "On The Road", it is a vintage travel themed challenge and I had a lot of fun with this one!

I found a great vintage image online of a woman sitting on her steamer trunk, maybe waiting to start her travels to somewhere exotic! I have used some gorgeous 7 Dots Nature Walk paper with this card then added some clock chipboards from my stash , a shipping tag, a gorgeous Prima luggage resin, some flowers, pearls and a vintage key.

This is a current favorite card of mine, and love how it turned out, especially how perfect the resin fits the theme!! I really hope you feel inspired to join along in our vintage travel challenge this week!!

Magnifique Mixed Media Kit and More with the August C'est Magnifique Kit!

I love to use mixed media in my projects, have you seen our GORGEOUS August Mixed Media kit? It is in the stores on sale right now and I just wanted to share a layout I did using only the Paper Add On and the Magnfique Mixed Media kit.

I have used a gorgeous paper from the Kaisercraft Storyteller collection included in the paper kit as my base. My daughter has been a part of a ballet camp for the last few weeks here, so I have used several photos of her lately in my layouts, here she is wearing a beautiful tutu that the teacher owns. I have used the Studio Calico Mr. Huey's Bubbles Mask and some molding paste to start my background. I built up color with the gorgeous Heidi Swapp Pink Color Shine and Prima Gilded Color Bloom. I used the Dina Wakely Heavy Body Acrylic Paint in Sky to add accents to the molding paste, color the chipboard and around the edges of the paper.

I have used many many Kaisercraft Storyteller die cuts to embellish the layout, along with the gorgeous Prima flowers included in the mixed media kit!

From my stash: I just used a bit of distress ink and a script stamp!!

My next layout features my youngest daughter and a garden of flowers from the Main Kit and the Flower Add On. I had a great time layering up, masking, molding paste, mist and stamping, then layering on the papers and finally the gorgeous flowers!

From C'est Magnifique: Main Kit, Flower Add On, Embellishment Add On,
and Magnifique Mixed Media Kit

From Stash: Mask, Molding Paste, Stamp

There are lots of gorgeous details in the kits, you can see items from all the add ons and the main kit here

I hope you like my layouts, thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Dancer: A Layout for La-La Land Crafts

This week our theme at La-La Land Crafts was Pins and Pearls. I am away from my studio this summer visiting my parents and didn't bring my pins or pearls, oh no!!! Luckily I got a gorgeous gift from my friend Debbie and inside were some gorgeous flowers with pearl centers and those two gorgeous stickpins!!! Of course I used a ton of La-Land Crafts dies to make this layout too!!

I've added the Rolled Rose Large and Rolled Rose Small and Medium flowers to some gorgeous Prima flowers in my stash.

Here you can see the gorgeous Honeycomb die and Butterflies Set 1.

Here you can see the gorgeous stickpins I have used. I have added the Steampunk Heart Cogs and Open Leaf Flourish leaves to finish off the layout.

My daughter did a two week camp here and really enjoyed herself, I love how this layout turned out!!
